Bobby Morris

Profile

Bobby Morris* is a for second baseball out of the University of Iowa who was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 9th round of the 1993 MLB draft**.  Bobby had a decent minor league career, but injuries and father time caught up with him before he retired.

* His brother was Hal Morris

Personal Notes

Bobby Morris never made it past double a ball, which is a shame.  If you look through his baseball reference page, you'll see that he has decent numbers for an infielder.  However, if you dig closer you'd see the troubling numbers.  1998 and 1999 games played (25 and 6 due to injuries) show the point his upward trajectory stopped.  The other combo I like to look at are Age Differential and OPS.  .750 OPS is around average, and Bobby hits above that.  However, teams really focus on that Age Differential, and by the end Bobby is getting way old for his league, so he really needs to crush those leagues.  He was just good, and good doesn't get you a spot on the 40 man.  Being just good lets you see the high potential players pass you up.
