2023 Iowa Collection Update: Football Part 5

 We've reached the end of the football updates with today's Iowa Connections (not thru university).  We have the born in Iowa (Joe Burrow), the lived in Iowa (Jim Harbaugh) and those associated with the semi-pro teams in the state like the Barnstormers.  

In the cases of Burrow and Harbaugh, both were children of coaches who were coaching in Iowa when they were kids (Jim Burrow with Iowa State and Jack Harbaugh with Iowa).  Not nearly as many cards for their dads, perhaps showing the wonders that living in Iowa as a kid can do for a person :).

I was surprised to see that the largest growth in a player collection came from this group, and it was in fact Jim Harbaugh.  I added 81 Harbaughs this year, indicating that there are a lot of Harbaugh cards out there and people are definitely willing to trade them.  He does seem to have a pretty polarizing stature amongst the football fans.  Despite the 81 cards I added, I still remain in 9th place so there are some big super collectors of him out there.

Timm Rosenbach should have actually been with the first group of football updates, as he was a coach with St. Ambrose.  However, I missed him earlier so I'm making up for it now.  He was new to the collection this year after I discovered the coaching tie, and I collected 44 new cards of him!  I now have nearly half of his 98 cards and will be setting sights on the #2 ranking.  Why not #1?  Well, the #1 collector has 96 of the 98 cards, an absolutely incredible feat.  

In addition to Rosenbach, I added my first cards of Marvin Jones, Marc Boerigter, Brad Ottis, Matt Snider, Elmer Layden, Justin Hartwig, Dave Williams, Jerry Groom, Jerry Hillebrand and Tim Brown (not that Tim Brown).

New names to the checklist this year included Brad Ottis, Tim Brown, Daviyon Nixon, Kyle Moore, Venric Mark, John Bowman, Marlon Lucky, Willie Copeland, Bernie Scherer, Marvin Jones, Mekhi Sargent, Elijah Fields, Al DiMarco, Timm Rosenbach, Ed Flanagan, Jarrod DeGeorgia, Matt Hughes, Carlos Honare, Tommie Williams, Louis Trinca-Pasat and Claude Davis.

Next year we get to add Maxx Duggan to the list as I'm sure he will be in a few sets even if he doesn't get  drafted.
