Collecting a Schedule: Iowa State Cyclones Football

 For those who haven't followed my other schedules posts, I'm trying to find cards from each game played for a team.  Today that team is the Iowa State Cyclones football team.  Obviously this is a task that is not reasonable to complete as there are not going to be cards from every game, but it is still fun to see what % of games I can get to.  10%?  20%?  Who knows, but the collecting is always fun!

Today I'm going to start with a bunch of Iowa State cameo cards.  A cameo card is when a player (in this case a Cyclone) is in the background of someone else's card.

Also, bad run of cards for the Cyclones, all four are losses to some pretty tough competition.  

2004 Press Pass Roy Williams

Some players don't play much their early seasons, so its easier to figure out what year a game might be from. However, Roy Williams played a lot all 4 seasons with the Longhorns.  Luckily, only once in his 4 years did they host Iowa State.  Spotted in the background here is #41 Jeremy Loyd who spent parts of a couple seasons in the NFL as well.

2013 Upper Deck Joseph Randle

Another easy one.  Randle played for Oklahoma State 2010-2012, and the only time they hosted Iowa State was in 2012.  #87 is David Irving who played in the NFL from 2015-2020.

Seth Russell played two games at Ames. The 2014 game was a night game with the Cyclones in yellow pants, so this is the 2016 match-up. #11 is Gabe Luna.

2020 Score NFL Draft CeeDee Lamb

Lamb hosted Iowa State twice in his time at Oklahoma.  2017 and 2019.  This is the 2019 game.  You can tell for a couple of reasons.  First, the 2019 game was at night and Lamb appears lit by stadium lights instead of the sun.  The other reason is that the 2017 Iowa State jersey has the words "Iowa State" above the letters on the front, but not in 2019. Pretty good matchup of Kyler Murray vs. Brock Purdy, #1 overall vs. Mr. Irrelevant! (NOTE: Kyler was drafted in 2019, so this was Jalen Hurts.  Its Hurts to say, but I Murray have been wrong. 😁)
